Project Manager 

 

Salary Negotiable depending upon age and experience

Answering to the Design Director you will ideally have managed an arts based building project either on behalf of the client or contractor.


Job involves;

Managing our larger projects; taking over from the sales team, through project development to completion on site. You will be responsible for overseeing/completing the final samples, liaising with production, and dealing with contractual issues.

Liaising with the in-house team to ensure samples and specification are correct for final production, the layouts are correct, and managing the timeline through to final completion.

The role will involve travel and multiple projects at varying stages.


Background:

Surveying, building, engineering.


Qualities:

Well organised, work to deadlines, attention to detail, great communication and negotiation skills, multi-task, calm under pressure.

Experience:

• Building projects, preferably Arts based of over £500,000, working within the theatre environment, used to pressure of meeting completion dates and working with the associated trades.

• Should be aware of building contractor software systems.


Skills:

• CAD drawing, 2D, 3D, technical components and overall plans, layouts etc.

• Project management software.

• Clean driving licence.

• Engineering.

• Contract law.

• Time management/prioritisation.

Sewing Machinist (Full &/or Part time)

 

Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an energetic and intellectual individual that has the drive and ability within one of the leading manufacturers of theatre and cinema upholstered furniture in the UK. Based in Grays, Essex, the company was founded nearly seventy years ago, has achieved substantial growth in the last two / three years and forecast to continue.

The full hours; 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8-4:30 pm. The successful candidate will be required to work overtime during peak & busy periods and as & when the role demands.

Excellent earnings opportunity will be agreed based on your ability and experience.

The successful candidate will show an aptitude for quality workmanship and the enthusiasm and ability to learn new skills.

 

Essential Duties:

• Measuring, cutting and sewing all types of fabric including very heavy traditional fabric, to modern day velvets & velours, leather and vinyl too.

• Template / pattern making

 

Essential Skills:

• Fully experienced contract machinist

• Twin needle & Post Bed machine experience, including double stitching leather, leather/hide work.

• Must be comfortable with Flat-bed walking foot machines.

• Knowledge of pattern making and upholstery techniques and basic flat-bed machining skills.

• Excellent planning, organising and multi-tasking skills

• Understanding technical job specifications, written or computer generated, (not necessarily matching to a physical pattern sample).

• Ensuring the highest quality control standards are maintained

• Understanding and carrying out instructions from the Team Leader, Supervisor or Production Manager

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and some written

• Good knowledge of fabrics & their qualities

Will also consider an experienced dressmaker, someone with little contract experience for our curtain department if willing to learn & meet strict quality control, (part time only)

 

Desirable

Curtain & pelmet making, ‘simple’ panel/board sewing/upholstering.

 

Personality:

• Hardworking and conscientious with a positive can do attitude

• Quality conscious, timely, honest & reliable

• Able to work as part of a team in a busy multi-cultural workshop and independently

• Clean Working.

Tacker / Upholsterer 

Full Time (Part Time Considered for the right applicant)

• Stripping old covers and fabric off chairs, (If the Preparation Department require assistance)

• Cutting (upholstery position)

• Sewing (upholstery position)

• Stapling

• Template / pattern making (upholstery position)

• Gluing up foams and preparing chairs for leather or fabric upholstery

• Assembling of chairs

 

Essential Skills:

• Knowledge of pattern making and upholstery techniques including sample chair production and basic flat-bed machining skills. (Upholstery position)

• Seat finishing, backs and arms.

• Measuring, cutting and sewing all types of fabric and leather (upholstery position)

• Excellent planning, organising and multi-tasking skills (upholstery position)

• Understanding technical job specifications, written or computer generated

• Ensuring the highest quality control standards are maintained

• Understanding and carrying out instructions from the Team Leader, Supervisor or Production Manager

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

• Good tool handling skills including scissors, knives and various adhesives

 

Desirable:

Furniture Industry knowledge and experience; traditional moquette fabric handing including pattern matching, Double stitched leather, leather/hide work, deep buttoning, loose furniture (Bar upholstery), curtain making.
