Computer Aided Design (CAD)
We use CAD to create ‘footprints’ of all our chairs for insertion into drawings and presentations. We are happy to offer a full layout service to our clients.
These profiles show the variations on our standard cast iron metalwork and the basic seat height and back angles of our Regent Lazarus range.

Installations & Removals
Here at Kirwin & Simpson we not only install seating, we can remove existing chairs and have the facilities to store them as well.
Over the years we’ve learned that installation is most efficiently carried out during a venue’s dark period, and we work with and around busy schedules. When a dark period is not an option, we carefully plan an installation programme to suit the venue best as possible.
Work can be carried out overnight into early morning to allow chairs to be installed, removed or replaced. We know how important maintaining day to day functions are to a venue and do all we can not to interrupt workflow.
*Installation and delivery can be included in our chair costs.
Kirwin and Simpson are available to be booked around the clock, and at short notice, to remove your auditorium chairs. We also have the capability to store your chairs away from site, for as long as you desire. We do this for a multitude of reasons and are very flexible to the theatres’ needs and booking schedules. The chairs can even be adapted to make this process as streamline as possible, particularly when the chairs come out often for Press Nights; please have a look at our Removable chair page for information on this.
Other reasons it is necessary to remove chairs include:
- Adjustments in seating layouts, due to a new production going on stage, mean that the chairs might need to be removed to allow for better sight-lines.
- Work carried out to auditoriums, including redecoration and new carpets being fitted, as well as maintenance checks to the building mean chairs need to be moved out the way to allow for works to continue and to protect the chairs.
- Chairs can also be removed to allow ease of access when shows are changing over.
We have attended many of the top Theatres in London’s West End to remove chairs for Awards Ceremonies and filmed performances. This includes; The Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium; the BAFTA Film Awards and the Olivier Awards at the Royal Opera House; the BAFTA TV Awards at Theatre Royal Drury Lane; and the British Fashion Awards at the London Coliseum.
Kirwin & Simpson have the facilities to safely and securely store your auditorium chairs; this can be done on a short or long term basis. All chairs are packaged to reduce damage to the chairs and insured to protect against any misdemeanours.
We are available to attend at short notice all through the week and evenings, weekends and throughout the night to quickly and efficiently remove your chairs.
Maintenance services
Kirwin & Simpson offer three types of maintenance services that can be carried out on short-notice:
Kirwin & Simpson’s qualified teams of on site installers can, at short notice, attend site to rectify the vast majority of seating issues in one visit. This service is nationwide and can vastly reduce the cost and inconvenience of having chairs “off sale” for an unnecessarily long period.
In the event of repairs not being achievable on the spot, our experienced personnel can make an assessment and offer a range of solutions and recommendations.
The risk of costly and inconvenient chair breakages can be reduced by a Preventative Maintenance inspection.
All chairs are physically checked for missing and/or defective fixings which are replaced as necessary*, the condition of the upholstery is inspected and a report generated detailing any degenerative issues.
Recommendations/predictions then can be made as to the extent of future expenditure both in terms of the safe functioning of the chairs but also the condition of the upholstery.
*Fixings are replaced within reason. We will be unable to replace costly or bespoke fixings on the spot.
A maintenance contract allows for scheduled preventative maintenance inspections to be carried out usually monthly, quarterly or annually. All chairs are physically checked for missing and/or defective fixings which are replaced* as necessary, the condition of the upholstery is inspected and a report generated detailing any degenerative issues.
Recommendations/predictions then can be made as to the extent of future expenditure both in terms of the safe functioning of the chairs but also the condition of the upholstery.
We are available to attend at short notice all through the week and evenings, weekends and throughout the night to quickly and efficiently remove your chairs.
